SLO-CAL WINTER PADDLEBOARD RACE SERIES
by The Paddleboard Company
COURSE AND RESULTS LISTED FOR RACE ONE LISTED BELOW
With our first paddleboard race in the books from last Saturday, Feb 4th, we’re happy with the overall feel of the event being a fun and friendly competitive environment for all the racers. The SLO-CAL WINTER SUP SERIES kicked-off with not only seasoned racers, but first-timers and even a paddler with a canine co-pilot named ‘Tanner’. The comprehensive range of board categories and skill levels communicated that this race is for everyone, even with the short but challenging course length, which ended up being a distance of 3.12 miles. Our race director, Nikki Gregg, launched both a beach start and finish. We were surprisingly stoked to have racers participate from Bakersfield and San Diego as well as a strong local SUP presence. A perfect paddling day in the Bay, calm with a slight wind and strong outgoing tide.
The race course changes weekly but here is a GPS screen shot of last week’s course. Starting from Coleman Beach (green dot), racers completed two laps.
