Well, we did it! Our team of 6 paddlers paddled a relay from 8am on Sat. March 26 to 8 am Easter Sunday 3/27. Monster & Sea based in Seattle, WA did this alone last year and this year the word spread to North Carolina, Coeur d’Alene, ID, Toronto, Vancouver, Newport Beach, CA, here in Morro Bay, CA and again in Seattle, WA. As a collective group of 24hr paddle teams we raised over $30,000. That’s 30 families who received an envelope of cash to ease their burden.

As for us in Morro Bay, the predicted 20 mph winds laid down until the following Monday. Whew! We still were committed to go but it would have been strenuous. We were greeted through the night with a 92% full moon and a sky full of stars. The fog rolled in around 3am and peeled away from the rock as we finished up our final hour as a complete team. Many faithful paddlers joined us throughout the day and even into the midnight hour. Together we’ve raised over $3500 to present to 3 local families dealing head on with the monster of cancer.
